monster

Little did she know
That the coffee he spilt on her the first morning
Was not a mere coincidence or a mistake
For she was his chosen prey

Little did she know
That the misgiving in her heart
Was not a mistaken feeling
But rather the universe telling her to run

Little did she know
The consequence of choosing
To disregard her gut feeling
For she too had fallen for that smile

Little did she know
That whilst she envisaged fairytales
He was there preparing
A lifetime of nightmares

Little did she know
That the tales he narrated
Were lies he weaved
A decoy to make her fall for him

Little did she know
That those twinkling eyes and intense smiles
The innocence and gullibility
Were all parts of the grand facade

Little did she know
That she was not the first
To fall for his act
To tumble into the trap

Little did she know
The torment that awaited her
After being enticed by such a monster
Who hid beneath the pretense of a charming prince
