The Girl!

This is something I wrote around seven years ago. It was a long, long time ago. It was something I wrote for a friend and I came across it today and thought why not post it on my blog. If you do read it, let me know what you think of it.  [And it really is about a friend because people keep assuming that it’s about me and that I’m trying to hide this so called past relationship, but hey, have you taken a look at the contents of this blog? Do I really have to conceal or lie about some past relationship when I’ve literally gone ahead and posted every insignificant detail about my life on this blog…]

She was innocent. Her life was simple. Everything was in order until he came along. He uttered three words which turned her world upside down.

If only she had known what he’d do?

She spent her days thinking of him. Every night she dreamed of him.

If only she had known what he’d do?

He introduced her into a new world. Her innocence vanished. She started exploring different horizons. He made her life enjoyable.

If only she had known what he’d do?

She built castles of hope in her land of fantasy. She believed that she would have a ‘happily-ever-after’ with him.

If only she had known what he’d do?

She loved his imperfection from the depth of her heart. She trusted him with her life. She was convinced that he would protect her from the dangers of the world.

If only she had known what he’d do?

Then came a moment which threw her off balance for a couple of days but things got back to normal almost immediately. She thought that it was one of the usual conflicts that came between couples.

If only she had known what he’d do?

There was a crucial moment in their life during which she prayed for him more than for herself or for anyone else. She prayed for his success. She prayed that he should pass through this moment with ease.

If only she had known what he’d do?

Then came the days which changed everything. When he had to travel she told him to keep in touch. But he never did. He ditched her. He never bothered to respond to her messages. She waited patiently in the beginning. As time passed she started to worry for his safety and then panic. Finally she reached a point where she couldn’t bear the silence anymore. That’s when she broke down. She shed tears day and night. Fury built up within her. She decided to let go and she did. Almost.

If only she had let go.

Her love and care for him won over her fury and she decided to try one last time. She messaged him and to her surprise she got a reply.

If only she had let go.

He apologized with a simple “Sorry” and when asked for details he evaded her by providing feeble answers.

If only she had let go.

His choice to avoid answering her was obvious and it hurt her.

She was more than hurt.

If only he realized how much she cared.

Even after suffering so much and knowing that he was the sole reason behind her pain, she was merciful. She forgave him.

If only he realized how much she cared.

The unbearable pain had changed her. She had turned into a stone, a cold hearted stone. Her main aim of doing that was to block out the past.

If only he realized how much she cared.

But even then there was affection for him in her heart. Once or twice she made gestures which displayed her love for him but he rejected. Rejection tormented her more than ignorance.

If only he realized how much she cared.

After that a series of events took place. Her simple life had turned into an intricate web of complications within a matter of few months. He kept on hurting her in many different ways but she was so cold she never felt that pain…. until now.

Now a number of questions are buzzing in her head: “Can she pull herself out of this web?” “Will she ever be able to restore peace in her life?” “Can she move on?”

The answers are known only to one person.

Herself!
